Tanked: Recognizing the Dark Edge in Alcoholism is a collection of stories from the Alcoholics Anonymous.

The driver of my book comes from a personal experience of someone close to me. The sequence starts out with stories from the perspective of the love ones, and transition to the points of view from those who suffer alcoholism. The narrative hopes to mend broken relationships between the one who was hurt by the alcoholic, and those who are hurt by the alcohol.

Do you feel dizzy or disoriented when you stare into this book cover? Exploring with distortion, I designed this book cover to give readers a glimpse of the effects of alcohol.

My table of content design reflects the distance between relationships created by alcohol.

Using the stories shared by the Alcoholic Anonymous, I highlighted words in red to reveal a hidden narrative.

The distortion also happens in between pages as a summary for each chapter. The unobstructed typography represents what these relationships could have been without alcohol.

Emotions are better expressed through art. I curated a selection of poems that narrates the affect of alcohol. They capture the words left unsaid between love ones and the alcoholic.

I chose the open spine binding for my book because it aligns with the vulnerability of the topic.

I curated these images for my book, because they allow readers to see the world in the perspective of an alcoholic.
